Intern, HR Strategy and Planning (Fall 2026)
Job Description:

How youll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The HR Strategy & Planning (HRSP) team plays a critical role in shaping the future of Delta’s people strategy, aligning enterprise HR priorities with business objectives and driving high-impact, enterprise-wide initiatives that support our 100,000+ employees.
As an HR Strategy & Planning Intern, you will operate at the intersection of strategy, data, and executive decision-making, working on high-visibility initiatives that directly inform senior leadership. Interns on our team are treated as internal consultants, owning meaningful workstreams and contributing to complex, ambiguous problems that require structured thinking and strong storytelling.
WHAT YOU’LL GAIN
  • Hands-on experience working on enterprise-level HR strategy and transformation initiatives
  • Exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to present recommendations that influence decision-making
  • Development of consulting-style problem solving, structured thinking, and executive communication skills
  • Mentorship from experienced HR strategy and planning professionals
  • A deeper understanding of how strategic priorities are translated into execution at scale within a Fortune 100 company
SAMPLE PROJECTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drive components of leadership update cycles, including outreach, data synthesis, and presentation development
  • Conduct research and synthesize insights into actionable recommendations for leadership
  • Own and deliver KPI scorecards and performance updates across multiple strategic goals
  • Help shape communication and change management strategies for initiative rollouts
  • Build templates and tracking tools to help scale new processes (e.g., strategic priority updates, project governance, and cross-team interaction / stakeholder engagement)
  • Participate in team stand-ups, planning sessions, and cross-team working groups
  • Own a defined strategic project from intake → recommendation → presentation
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and balancing multiple workstreams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, especially when synthesizing complex topics
  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and ownership over deliverables
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution
  • At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale
  • Must be able to work on a full-time basis for the Fall 2026 semester: August-December
  • Student cannot actively take any courses (inclusive of online or in-person) and work as a Co-op/Intern at the same time, which may delay graduation by 1-2 semesters
  • Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the internship
  • Working as a Co-op/Intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity at Delta Air Lines upon graduation. This position is intended to provide educational and professional work experience to prepare the student for the workforce
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Preferred majors in Human Resources, Business, Strategy, Communications, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field
  • Experience or coursework in strategy, consulting, organizational behavior, or design thinking
  • Experience working with data analysis, visualization, or storytelling tools (e.g., Excel advanced functions, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable recommendations
  • Interest in employee experience, organizational transformation, or enterprise strategy
  • Comfort working in high-ambiguity, high-impact environments
