The Commercial BI team is an analytics function that delivers data products and solutions to help business users achieve their goals. Our stakeholders span the full breadth of the Commercial domain, including Trading, Network, Scheduling, Proposition, and Inflight Retail, among others. We are seeking a Data Steward to support in defining standards and ensuring that the data we produce is fit for consumption. As such, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s data strategy, impacting flight pricing, network planning, and more.
JOB PURPOSE
The Business Data Steward is a role centred on managing and ensuring the integrity of Commercial data across various platforms and compliance with legal standards like GDPR. Key responsibilities include implementing data quality rules, documenting metadata, integrating master data, and generating insightful reports. The candidate should have experience working with SQL, conducting comprehensive data analysis, and possesses skills in project delivery, data governance, and effective communication. As the role is embedded within the Commercial department, experience in an airline or a similarly strategic business environment is a significant advantage.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Data Quality Management:
• Develop and implement Data Quality rules.
• Monitor data integrity using Data Quality tools.
• Identify, report, and analyse Data Quality issues.
Metadata Management:
• Collect and document table and column descriptions, business terms, KPIs.
• Facilitate the integration of metadata into the Data Catalogue (tool implementation forthcoming).
Master Data Management and Reference Data Management:
• Gather master data and reference data.
• Ensure integration with the Master Data Management tool.
Data Compliance:
• Ensuring that data management practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, such as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) or industry-specific requirements.
Data Reporting and Analysis:
• Assist in the development of reports that provide insights to business stakeholders. Support data analysis and decision-making processes with accurate and timely data.
Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organisation to identify and meet data requirements. Act as a bridge between technical teams and business units to ensure data-related needs are addressed.
